Berry Bros & Rudd - LARK Distillery - Vintage 2016 - 4 years - Cask No. 1244 - 60.20%
Berry Bros. & Rudd is recognized as the oldest wine and spirits merchant in Great Britain, operating from the same historic premises since 1698. With over three centuries of expertise, this iconic merchant has established itself among the leaders in the international market, with strategically located offices in Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong. In addition to its trade, Berry Bros. & Rudd has a renowned wine school as well as an exceptional gastronomic space in London, dedicated to the tasting and sale of rare wines and prestigious spirits.
The Lark Distillery, a jewel of innovation in whisky making, is located in Hobart, Tasmania. The history of distillation in Tasmania was turbulent: in 1838, Lady Jane Franklin persuaded her husband, Governor John Franklin, to ban the production of spirits on the island, preferring that barley be used as feed for pigs rather than for making alcoholic beverages. This prohibition lasted over a century, leaving Tasmania without a whisky distillery until 1992. It was then that Bill and Lyn Lark, passionate pioneers, realized their vision by creating the first distillery producing Australian Single Malt in 154 years. Their commitment revolutionized the Australian whisky landscape, and their first Lark Single Malt was marketed in 1998, marking the beginning of a new era for Tasmanian spirits.
This 2016 vintage, aged 4 years, is an exclusive limited edition, resulting from a meticulous blend of three 100-liter casks specially selected for Berry Bros. & Rudd. Precisely distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2021, this rare Single Cask (#1244) produced only 373 bottles, each revealing the aromatic richness and characteristic depth of Lark distillation, unpeated to preserve the original purity of the flavors.
