Sullivans Cove - 13 years - American Oak ex - Tawny Single Cask No. TD0318 - 2008/2022 - 47.4%
The Sullivans Cove Distillery was founded in 1994 at its historic location, the former brickworks of Sullivans Cove, making it the second oldest whisky distillery in Tasmania. Located in Cambridge since 2004, this iconic distillery is now led by master distiller Patrick Maguire, renowned for his expertise in distillation and rigorous cask selection. Initially, Sullivans Cove had a modest reputation, but thanks to a change in management in 1999, the quality of their whiskies significantly improved. This progress was crowned in 2014 when their French Oak cask HH0525 was named the best Single Malt whisky in the world at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards. In 2016, the distillery was acquired by a group led by Adam Sable, former manager of the famous Scottish distillery Bladnoch, bringing international expertise to the production of Tasmanian whiskies.
This unique expression from Sullivans Cove was distilled in 2008 and matured in a cask that previously held Tawny, an Australian port-style wine known for its rich and complex aromas. This exclusive Single Cask, No. TD0318, aged for 13 years before being bottled at a perfect strength of 47.4%. Only 422 bottles were produced, making this release a sought-after rarity among whisky enthusiasts and collectors of high-quality spirits.
