MARS - 2017 Single Cask 124 - Tsunuki Shinshu Aging - Bottled in 2021 - 60%

The Shinshu distillery is a prestigious property of Hombo Shuzo (also known as Hombo Brewing Co.), renowned for its exceptional expertise in whisky production sold under the Mars Whisky brand. Founded in 1872 by Honbu Matsusa, the distillery is ideally located at 800 meters altitude in the village of Miyata, on the Japanese island of Kyushu. In 1949, Hombo Shuzo obtained a license for whisky production at the Kagoshima distillery before concentrating all its expertise and activity at the Shinshu site. Although low demand in the 1990s led to a temporary halt in production in 1992, it resumed dynamically in 2012 with the ambition to strengthen the position of Japanese whisky on the international stage. Among the flagship references of this distillery are the renowned Komagatake, a Single Malt named in tribute to the majestic nearby mountain, as well as the Mars Maltage Cosmo, launched in July 2015, celebrating the unique geographical position of the distillery, with an allusion to the starry sky visible from Mount Komagatake, symbolizing purity and serenity.
