IMPERIAL - 24 years old - 1996 - Gordon & MacPhail - 56.60%
Gordon & MacPhail is a world-renowned independent bottler of Scottish whisky, as well as the owner of the Benromach distillery. The company is famous for its very diverse range of rare and exclusive bottlings from the most prestigious distilleries in Scotland. Founded in 1895, this family business in Elgin, the heart of Scottish whisky in the northeast of Scotland, has preserved unique expertise and a tradition of excellence. In 1915, John Urquhart, a former apprentice turned master, took full control of the company, ensuring the brand's longevity more than a century later.
The Imperial distillery was an iconic producer of Single Malt whisky located in Carron, in the heart of Speyside, famous for its rich and elegant flavors. Operating intermittently between 1897 and 1998, Imperial went through several closures and reopenings before being permanently shut down. The distillery was demolished in 2013, making way for the new Dalmunach distillery inaugurated in 2015 on the same historic site. This exceptional edition was aged for 24 years in a refill Sherry hogshead Single Cask (#5602), ensuring remarkable aromatic complexity. Bottled on May 14, 2021, this exclusive release was limited to 215 bottles, guaranteeing a rarity highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs of prestigious whiskies.
