GLENFIDDICH - 26 years - Grande Couronne - Bottled in 2021 - 48.6%
Glenfiddich is an iconic distillery located in Dufftown, in the famous Speyside region of Scotland. Founded in 1886 by William Grant, who personally oversaw the construction of the distillery with the help of his nine children, Glenfiddich has become a cornerstone of Scottish whisky. Despite major difficulties caused by Prohibition in the United States in the 1920s, Glenfiddich managed to turn this crisis into an opportunity. Unique among distilleries still operating at the repeal in 1933, it not only maintained its production but even increased it, thus consolidating its reputation in the American market. Glenfiddich is renowned for its resilience in the face of economic and industrial challenges, notably during the crises of the 1960s and 1970s, when it diversified its production and launched an innovative marketing campaign, promoting whisky as a Single Malt in its famous distinctive triangular bottle.
The distillery benefits from an impressive infrastructure with 28 stills capable of producing up to 10 million liters of spirits per year, making Glenfiddich the largest distillery in Scotland. Its parent company, William Grant & Sons, also owns the prestigious Balvenie distillery, as well as recognized brands such as the Grant's blend, the famous Hendrick's Gin, and the Drambuie liqueur.
Grande Couronne is an exceptional Single Malt aged 26 years. Its aging begins with 24 years in former Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks, then it is meticulously finished in rare French Cognac casks, giving it a unique gustatory complexity and perfect balance.
