NAGAHAMA - Tanba Wine Cask & Swedish Octave Cask - 56.20%
The Nagahama Distillery is ideally located in Shiga, in the heart of Japan. Originally founded under the name Nagahama Roman Beer Co. Ltd, it began whisky production in 2016. Today, the distillery is recognized as the smallest whisky distillery in Japan, embodying a unique artisanal expertise. Beyond Single Malt, Nagahama offers refined blends made from carefully selected whiskies internationally, matured in Nagahama's specific climate for exceptional aromatic complexity.
Its main still, with a capacity of only 1,000 liters (with a residual distillate of 500 liters), is among the smallest in the country, allowing optimal control of the distillation. Indirect steam heating ensures a delicate extraction of aromas. Nicknamed "Aranbic" in reference to its oriental design, the still uses pure water from Mount Ibuki, renowned for its mineral richness. The malted barley, both peated and unpeated, is selected from the best harvests in England. The distillery belongs to the prestigious Shin group.
This exceptional Single Malt, crafted by the talented master blender Takashi Kiyoi and distiller Yusuke Yahisa, owes its uniqueness to aging in Tanba Japanese wine casks as well as Swedish octave casks. This double maturation gives the whisky an unmatched intensity and aromatic palette, captivating spirit enthusiasts worldwide.
