CALVADOS - Christian Drouin - VSOP - 40% at Clos des Spiritueux
The Christian Drouin House, a true emblem of exceptional Calvados, is located in the heart of the Pays d’Auge in Normandy, a region renowned for the quality of its spirits. Founded in the 1960s by Christian Drouin Sr. at Fiefs Saint-Anne, near Honfleur, this family business cultivates cider apple trees on fertile lands ideal for the production of artisan Calvados.
From the beginning, Christian Drouin collaborated with expert distiller Pierre Pivet, perfecting the art of traditional distillation. For twenty years, production was reserved for a private circle until Christian Drouin Jr. joined the venture in 1969. From 1979, commercialization truly began, offering Christian Drouin Calvados to prestigious hotels and gourmet tables in France and internationally. Expansion continued in the 1990s with the creation of new facilities near Pont-l’Évêque to meet strong demand.
In 2004, Guillaume Drouin, representing the third generation, brought new momentum. An agronomist engineer and oenologist by training, he modernized the house by notably developing exports and gradually taking over the management of the family estate.
