Vintage 1988 - BRUT DE FÛT - 35 Cl bottle - Clos des Spiritueux
Frédéric Bourgoin is a renowned winemaker based in Saint Saturnin in Charente (France). With passion and expertise, he produces, within the family estate Clos des Spiritueux, authentic and atypical cognacs, notable both for their aromatic richness and their method of production. His philosophy is based on natural viticulture, marked by transparency and subtle innovation to enhance the unique terroirs of the region.
The family vineyard Clos des Spiritueux, established since 1930, now extends over the prestigious crus of Premiers Bois, Petite Champagne, and Fins Bois. This exceptional land has a single ambition: to re-enchant French palates with the intensity and finesse of a true winemaker's cognac, an authentic reflection of its origin.
"I primarily claim the terroir of Premiers Bois, a little-known cru on the original 1909 map, but of extraordinary geological richness thanks to its upper Cretaceous subsoils (middle Cenomanian). I am committed to creating natural cognacs, without artifices, that fully capture the soul and character of this very particular terroir."
By natural, it means: without multiple blends, without any filtration, without added colorings or sugars. Clos des Spiritueux cognacs are bottled vintage by vintage, parcel by parcel, barrel by barrel, to guarantee a pure and transparent expression. Older vintages are offered at their natural strength, thus providing an exceptional tasting experience.
For young eaux-de-vie, dilution is carefully done with distilled rainwater, which optimizes and preserves subtle aromatic power. Racking strictly follows the phases of the moon, is done by gravity to respect fluid mechanics, thus avoiding any invasive filtration that could alter the intrinsic quality of the cognacs.
Bottling is done entirely by hand at the Clos des Spiritueux estate. "I dedicate my cognacs to passionate wine merchants, demanding gourmet restaurants, and innovators of high mixology." Quantities are very limited, but each bottle promises unparalleled gustatory intensity.
Our emblematic cuvée? MICROBARRIQUE 1994 in 35cl format at 43% vol. This remarkable 1994 vintage cognac stands out by a unique aging, completed by a finish in a 10-liter micro-barrel with crocodile charring (55-second flame contact). The nose and palate open with exquisite tropical notes: bourbon vanilla, jammy strawberry, roasted pineapple, and overripe mango, an exceptional aromatic symphony.
