Vintage 1984 - BRUT DE FÛT - 35 Cl bottle
Frédéric Bourgoin is a passionate winemaker based in Saint Saturnin in Charente (France). On the family estate, he produces unique cognacs, innovative both in their methods and aromatic expression. His philosophy is based on a natural viticulture and winemaking approach, complete transparency in the process, and a controlled touch of innovation to enhance each vintage.
The family vineyard, bearing the name BOURGOIN since 1930, now extends over exceptional terroirs: premiers bois, petite champagne, and fins bois. His mission is clear: to help French enthusiasts rediscover the true taste of a winemaker's cognac, authentic and sincere.
"Above all, I claim the terroir of premiers bois, a small cru forgotten since the original 1909 map, rich in superior Cretaceous subsoils, more precisely middle Cenomanian, with exceptional minerality. I insist on producing 'natural' cognacs, without artifice, that fully and faithfully express the terroir where they were born."
Natural here means: no blending, no filtration, no addition of colorants or sugars. Each cognac is bottled by parcel, by barrel, and by vintage. Older vintages are offered at their natural strength, thus preserving the aromatic integrity and unique typicity of each expression.
Reductions of young eaux-de-vie are always done only with distilled rainwater, an optimal choice to amplify aromatic power and finesse. Racking is done carefully, in lunar quadrature and by gravity, taking advantage of fluid mechanics to avoid any aggressive filtration and preserve the purity of the product.
Bottling, artisanal and 100% manual, is done directly at the estate. "I dedicate my cognacs to passionate wine merchants, quality restaurants, and high-end mixology." Note that quantities are very limited, but each tasting promises an exceptional gustatory experience.
Our emblematic cuvée? MICROBARRIQUE 1994 35cl at 43% vol. An atypical vintage cognac from 1994, aged in traditional barrel then finished in a 10-liter micro-barrel, subjected to crocodile bousinage (55 seconds under intense flame). The nose and palate open on an exotic bouquet with notes of bourbon vanilla, jammy strawberry, roasted pineapple, and overripe mango, a remarkable combination for enthusiasts seeking originality.
