Frédéric Bourgoin is a passionate winemaker based in Saint Saturnin in Charente (France). He produces, with his family, exceptional cognacs on the family estate, both unusual in their identity and in their production method. His vision? A deeply natural viticultural approach, total transparency, and a touch of controlled innovation to reveal the best of the terroir.
The Bourgoin family vineyard, proudly carried since 1930, now extends over prestigious crus such as Premiers Bois, Petite Champagne, and Fins Bois. Our main ambition: to help French enthusiasts rediscover the authentic and unique taste of a true winemaker's cognac, crafted with care and respect for the terroir.
"Above all, I claim the terroir of Premiers Bois, a discreet and almost forgotten cru since the original 1909 map, renowned for its remarkable Upper Cretaceous (Middle Cenomanian) subsoils. My commitment is clear: to produce only "natural" cognacs that fully and unadornedly express the richness of the terroir where they were born."
What does "natural" mean? No artificial blending, no filtration, zero addition of colorants or sugars. Our cognacs are carefully bottled vintage by vintage, plot by plot, cask by cask. The old vintages are thus offered to you in their full expression, at their natural strength.
The reductions of young eaux-de-vie are carried out exclusively using distilled rainwater, thus optimizing aromatic power. Racking is done according to the lunar quadrature and by gravity, taking advantage of fluid mechanics to avoid excessive filtration and preserve the integrity of the aromas.
Each bottling is done 100% by hand, directly on the estate. "I reserve my cognacs for passionate wine merchants, quality gastronomic restaurants, and high-level mixology." Note that quantities are very limited, but the intensity and finesse of the flavors will always be present.
Our emblematic cuvée? MICROBARRIQUE 1994 35 cl at 43% vol. This atypical vintage cognac is carefully aged, benefiting from a unique finish in a 10-liter micro-barrel, achieved by precise charring with a crocodile flame (55 seconds of controlled flame). The nose and palate open with tropical aromas of great complexity: bourbon vanilla, jammy strawberry, roasted pineapple, and overripe mango, for an unforgettable tasting experience.
