Vintage 1972 - BARREL-FRESH - 35 Cl bottle
Frédéric Bourgoin is a passionate winemaker in Saint Saturnin, Charente (France). He crafts exceptional cognacs with his family on their family estate, unique both in substance and form. His philosophy? A resolutely natural viticulture and winemaking approach, complete transparency in production, and a touch of controlled innovation to enhance each vintage.
The family vineyard has borne the name BOURGOIN since 1930 and today extends over the prestigious crus of premiers bois, petite champagne, and fins bois. One ambition: to help French and international enthusiasts rediscover the authentic taste of a true winemaker's cognac, rich in terroir and character.
"I primarily claim the terroir of premiers bois, a little-known cru from the original 1909 map, benefiting from remarkable Upper Cretaceous (middle Cenomanian) subsoils. I insist on producing 'natural' cognacs that accurately express the essence of the terroir where they were born, without compromise."
Natural, meaning? Without artificial blends, without aggressive filtration, without added colorings or sugars. My cognacs are rigorously bottled by vintage, by parcel, and by barrel, guaranteeing total traceability and authenticity. Older vintages are offered at their full alcohol strength to preserve all their original aromatic richness.
Reductions on young eaux-de-vie are systematically made using distilled rainwater, thus optimizing the preservation and reach of natural aromas. Racking is done according to the lunar cycle, by gravity, to respect fluid mechanics and avoid any unnecessary filtration, preserving the integrity and finesse of the cognac.
Bottling is done 100% by hand, directly on the estate. "I dedicate my cognacs to passionate wine merchants, quality gastronomic restaurants, and high-end mixology." Note that quantities are very limited, ensuring exclusivity and consistently excellent taste for a unique tasting experience.
Our emblematic cuvée? MICROBARRIQUE 1994 35cl at 43% vol. An atypical 1994 vintage cognac, whose aging is enhanced by a finish in a 10-liter micro-barrel made with crocodile bousinage (55 seconds of touching flame). The nose and palate open with intense tropical aromas: bourbon vanilla, jammy strawberry, roasted pineapple, and overripe mango, for an unforgettable tasting.
