KAVALAN - French Wine Cask - Single Cask - 59.4%
The Kavalan distillery, named after an ancient indigenous tribe from the region, is ideally located in the northeast of Taiwan Island. Founded by the King Car group, Kavalan immediately stood out by employing the best master distillers and whisky industry experts, asserting from its inception the ambition to produce an exceptional whisky with worldwide renown. Thus, with the renowned expertise of Jim Swan, the distillery crafted its first new-make spirit on March 11, 2006, and launched its very first single malt in December 2008. Thanks to a rigorous selection of their best casks, Kavalan single casks quickly gained international recognition and won numerous prestigious medals.
This French Wine Cask edition comes from barrels originating from the prestigious Bordeaux wine region, where this single malt was aged for 6 and a half years to enhance the full range of complex and refined aromas of these exceptional casks. Of a soft and silky style, this whisky reveals a rich aromatic bouquet blending deep notes of black fruits, eucalyptus, cedar, and ripe apricot. On the palate, the attack combines the sweetness of vanilla with the subtle freshness of licorice, before concluding with a long and intense finish on black fruits. Bottled at its natural strength, at 59.4%, this exceptional single cask is limited to only 157 bottles, making each bottle a rare and precious treasure, available exclusively at Clos des Spiritueux.
