ARDBEG – Anthology – The Beithir’s Tale – 15 Years – Charred Bourbon Casks – 46%
Based on the island of Islay, the spiritual home of peated whiskies, Ardbeg has embodied the intensity and authenticity of the island style since 1815. Famous for its powerful and distinctive malts, the distillery constantly explores new creative paths. The Anthology collection reflects this boldness with limited editions offering atypical profiles designed to surprise and enrich the Ardbeg universe.
The third chapter in the Anthology series, The Beithir’s Tale is a 15-year-old single malt matured in bourbon casks with a special preparation: long air-drying followed by light charring. This unique treatment of the wood gives the whisky an added depth, combining peaty intensity with refined woody nuances. Its name refers to the Beithir, a mythical Scottish creature resembling a fire serpent, a symbol of strength and vitality—just like this whisky.
Its pale golden robe reveals elegant brilliance. The nose is dense and expressive, opening with captivating smoke enhanced by soft tar, freshly ground coffee, candied citrus, and a touch of damp undergrowth. On the palate, the attack is lively and powerful, driven by oily, saline peat softened by creamy vanilla, zesty lemon, and subtle herbal and leathery notes. The velvety texture delivers a remarkable balance of intensity and elegance. The long, persistent finish lingers with generous smoke, grilled vanilla, smoky butter, and sweet spices.
Ardbeg The Beithir’s Tale – Anthology 15 Years is an Islay single malt aged in toasted and lightly charred bourbon casks, bottled at 46%. A rare limited edition that combines power, complexity, and elegance, it appeals both to lovers of smoky whiskies and collectors.
