THE GLENROTHES - 15 years - 43% ABV
The Glenrothes Distillery is ideally located on the picturesque banks of the River Spey, in the heart of Scotland's famous whisky region, Speyside. Founded in 1878 by James Stuart, a former employee of the prestigious Macallan, it was quickly sold to William Grant of Glenfiddich, an iconic figure in the whisky industry. Glenrothes has a rich and eventful history, marked by three major fires and a significant explosion that temporarily slowed its production. Today, this exceptional distillery plays a key role in whisky production in Scotland, with an impressive capacity of over 5.5 million liters of alcohol per year thanks to its 10 traditional stills. The grenade-shaped bottles are a distinctive visual signature of Glenrothes whisky, reflecting its unique character. Currently, the distillery is part of the Edrington group, which also owns the prestigious brands The Macallan and Highland Park, further strengthening its position among the best single malt whisky producers.
The Glenrothes 15 years old benefits from careful aging mainly in first-fill European oak casks, enriched with subtle influences of sherry. This process gives the whisky a remarkable aromatic complexity, combining fruity notes with spicy and woody nuances, ideal for discerning enthusiasts seeking a refined tasting experience.
