NIKKA - The Nikka Tailored - 43%
Nikka Whisky Distilling Company is an iconic distillery located in Japan, founded by Masataka Taketsuru, globally recognized as the founding father of high-quality Japanese whisky. The son of a sake brewer, Masataka Taketsuru studied chemistry at university before perfecting his whisky craft at several renowned distilleries in Scotland. Returning to Japan in 1920 with his Scottish wife Rita, he played a key role in creating the first Japanese whisky at Suntory (formerly Kotobukiya Limited), before founding his own company and the Yoichi distillery, the main base of the Nikka company. Today, Nikka is also known for its distinct distilleries dedicated to producing Shochu—a traditional Japanese spirit made from various ingredients such as rice, barley, and sweet potato—as well as for its facilities specialized in making cider brandy and apple wine. In 2001, the prestigious Asahi Breweries group acquired Nikka, further strengthening its presence in the premium spirits sector.
The Nikka Tailored represents a unique and refined blend, skillfully combining the delicate malt from the Miyagikyo distillery, the characteristic peaty richness of the Yoichi distillery, and a perfectly balanced grain whisky, offering a complex and memorable sensory experience.
Slightly peaty, this whisky will appeal to enthusiasts seeking a subtle harmony between malty sweetness and refined smoky notes.
