The Glenturret - 10 years - Peat Smoked - 50%
\nThe Glenturret Distillery is located in Crieff, in the heart of the majestic Scottish Highlands, in Scotland. Officially established in 1763 by Sir Patrick Murray of Ochtertyre, this iconic distillery has a fascinating history dating back to 1717, when it was operated clandestinely by illegal distillers seeking to evade taxes. This historical authenticity grants Glenturret the prestigious title of the oldest distillery in Scotland, although this status is sometimes disputed by other historic establishments such as Littlemill or Strathisla. In 1814, the Murray family sold the distillery, then named "Thurot," to Thomas MacInnes who renamed it "The Hosh Distillery." In 1825, John and Hugh Drummond, local distillers and grain merchants, purchased the distillery and concluded the "Ochtertyre Agreement," allowing the joint use of the pure water from Loch Turret and local peat for the production of spirits. In 1845, John McCallum took over before Thomas Stewart became owner in 1875 and definitively renamed the establishment "Glenturret" to celebrate its centenary. Despite interruptions caused by World War I, the Great Depression, and American Prohibition, production resumed thanks to the Mitchell brothers in 1921, then under the direction of James Fairlie in 1957, and finally integrated into the Cointreau group in 1981. Purchased by Highland Distillers in 1990, then by the Edrington group in 1999, Glenturret was acquired in 2018 by the Lalique house. In September 2020, after more than 250 years of excellence, The Glenturret unveiled a new exceptional range developed under the direction of renowned master distiller, Bob Dalgarno.
