Quinta do Noval - Porto Tawny 20 Years Old - Jeroboam - 3 Liters
Quinta do Noval is a prestigious Porto house founded in 1715, globally recognized for the quality of its wines and for being one of the few to cultivate its vineyards in the heart of the Douro Valley, rather than in Vila Nova de Gaia, in Portugal. The legend of Quinta do Noval rests on its exceptional terroir, where native Douro grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Cao, and Sousao thrive on soils mixing schist and clay. The harvest is made demanding by the presence of rocks, but this difficulty contributes to the uniqueness of the wines by concentrating aromas and the richness of the fruit.
In 1994, Quinta do Noval undertook a methodical replanting of its plots, adapting each grape variety to the specific characteristics of the soil, altitude, and ideal exposure to obtain the best grape quality. The estate also houses a historic plot of ungrafted vines, miraculously spared from the phylloxera crisis in the 19th century, producing grapes of extraordinary quality. Since 1993, the expertise of Christian Seely has guided the house as general manager, with the support of the AXA Millésimes group, which also owns renowned estates such as Château Pichon-Longueville, Château Pibran, and Disznókő (Hungary).
The Porto Noval Tawny 20 years offered by Clos des Spiritueux is the quintessence of traditional Portuguese know-how for great port wines. This exceptional tawny is obtained through artisanal vinification: the grapes, after being carefully foot-trodden, ferment in lagares (stone vats emblematic of the Douro) to optimally extract color and aromas. Its patient aging, carried out in oak barrels for an average of 20 years, brings a rare aromatic complexity, intertwining notes of dried fruits, caramel, nuts, and delicate spices. This unique blend of old ports from multiple vintages expresses all the subtlety and richness of the Douro region, enhanced by the patina of time.
