Kavalan is a renowned distillery located in Yilan County, Taiwan, globally recognized for its exceptional whiskies. Founded in 2005 by visionary entrepreneur Tien-Tsai Lee, it released its first bottling in 2008. T.T. Lee's ambition to create the first rare quality Taiwanese whisky quickly elevated Kavalan among the legendary distilleries of Scotland and Japan. This prestige was notably confirmed when Jim Murray awarded the title of "New Whisky of the Year" to the Solist Fino Sherry Cask in his famous Whisky Bible 2012. The distillery belongs to the prestigious King Car Group, guaranteeing superior quality.
Kavalan draws its pure, mineral-rich water from the source of the Snow Mountain and benefits from a unique aging process thanks to the combination of intense heat and high humidity, modulated by sea and mountain breezes. Taiwan's warm subtropical climate accelerates the maturation of spirits, allowing for rare aromatic complexity in a short time. The distillery applies a precise double distillation to ensure the purity and finesse of the whisky. The first step separates alcohol from water, while the second, more technical, fractions the distillate into heads, heart, and tails. Only the best part, the heart, is selected for barrel aging. The rigorous selection of barrels is essential to develop Kavalan's unique aromas. When the whisky reaches its peak, the barrels are carefully emptied and the pure "Kavalan" water is precisely adjusted to achieve the ideal alcohol strength, except when bottled cask strength.

This Single Cask bottled cask strength at 59.4% is limited to only 209 numbered bottles, ensuring its rare and exceptional character. The Solist Vinho Barrique expression was crowned Best Single Malt Whisky in the World at the prestigious World Whisky Awards 2015, attesting to its unmatched style and excellence.
