The Maison Christian Drouin is one of the most renowned producers of Calvados in Normandy, in the heart of the Pays d’Auge. Founded in the 1960s by Christian Drouin Sr., the adventure began at the Fiefs Saint-Anne, near Honfleur, on a farm planted with cider apple trees. With the expertise of Pierre Pivet, a renowned distiller, the house spent two decades distilling exceptional cider and patiently refining its eaux-de-vie in the family cellars. In 1969, the son, Christian Drouin, joined the company and, from 1979, began marketing when the stocks reached their optimal maturity. After expanding internationally, Christian Drouin Jr. propelled the brand to prestigious hotels and restaurants. Facing growing success in the 1990s, production was transferred near Pont l’Évêque to support the estate’s growth.
In 2004, Guillaume Drouin, representing the third generation, joined the house as an agronomist and oenologist. He first worked on the internationalization of Christian Drouin Calvados before taking over production and overall management of the company in 2013. This combination of family traditions and innovation has helped make the house a key player in the world of exceptional Calvados.
The apples come from two historic orchards where more than thirty old varieties grow, cultivated according to the principles of organic farming. Production favors a slow fermentation, followed by a double artisanal distillation in a 2,500-liter pot still. The eaux-de-vie are then aged in prestigious casks that previously held Sherry, Port, Rivesaltes, Banyuls, giving Christian Drouin Calvados all their aromatic complexity and finesse.
Mars Angels is an exceptional Calvados aged 13 years, enhanced by its aging in three unique casks that previously contained the Komagatake Japanese Single Malt from the famous Mars Distillery.
