SANTA TERESA 1796 - Speyside Whiskey Barrel Finish - 46%
Hacienda Santa Teresa is ideally located in the mountainous Aragua Valley, in the heart of Venezuela . Founded in 1796, this prestigious estate once cultivated coffee, cocoa, and sugarcane. In 1830, Gustav Julius Vollmer , a young German merchant, arrived in Venezuela and met the revolutionary Panchita Rivas. Since then, the Vollmer family and their descendants have continued the tradition and still run the legendary Hacienda Santa Teresa today, a true emblem of exceptional Venezuelan rum.
To celebrate the Hacienda's bicentennial in 1996, Alberto Vollmer Herrera, representing the fourth generation of the family, took on the ambitious challenge of creating a unique rum, the fruit of the know-how acquired over 200 years of history. Using the famous Solera method , each bottle of Santa Teresa 1796 contains a portion of the very first 1796 cask, thus fulfilling the promise of an uninterrupted transmission of flavors and traditions. When a bottle is drawn, the original cask is refilled with a slightly younger rum, perpetuating this ancestral process with each bottling of Santa Teresa 1796 and guaranteeing an exceptional elixir with each tasting.
This exceptional limited edition has benefited from a minimum of 13 months of careful maturation in barrels that previously contained whisky from a renowned Scottish Speyside distillery, giving the rum a complexity imbued with aromas of wood, malty sweetness and a subtly smoky finish . This unique finish enhances all the aromatic richness of the Santa Teresa 1796, ennobling this grand cru to be discovered exclusively on Clos des Spiritueux , your reference for rare spirits, exceptional rums and limited editions.
