SANTA TERESA 1796 - 40% | Clos des Spiritueux
The prestigious Hacienda Santa Teresa is ideally located in the beautiful mountain valley of Aragua , in the heart of Venezuela . Founded in 1796, this historic hacienda built its reputation on the cultivation of sugar cane, coffee and cocoa. In 1830, Gustav Julius Vollmer , a young and passionate German merchant, settled in Venezuela where he had a decisive encounter with Panchita Rivas, a revolutionary woman. Since then, the Vollmer family has perpetuated, from generation to generation, the excellence and exceptional know-how of Santa Teresa, today recognized worldwide.
To celebrate the bicentenary of this legendary Hacienda in 1996, Alberto Vollmer Herrera, a fourth-generation descendant, set his team a bold challenge: to create a premium rum capable of sublimating two centuries of artisanal mastery. Thus was born Santa Teresa 1796 , an iconic rum made using the famous Solera method , inspired by the aging of fine wines and sherries. Each bottle of Santa Teresa 1796 contains a fragment of the very first 1796 cask, never entirely emptied. With each bottling, the original cask is topped up with a younger rum, allowing for a unique and profound aromatic complexity. This perpetual process guarantees each bottle an incomparable signature and the excellence of aging passed down from Maestro to Maestro.
