Green Spot - Single Pot Still - 40%
Green Spot – Single Pot Still is one of the great Irish classics from Mitchell & Son , a historic Dublin merchant. Heir to the tradition of “Spot Whiskeys,” its name recalls the time when the barrels were marked with a spot of paint to indicate the maturation time in the family’s underground cellars. Today, Green Spot blends whiskeys aged 7 to 10 years to offer a style faithful to the Dublin identity.
Made using the Single Pot Still process—a blend of malted and unmalted barley, typically triple distilled in Midleton—Green Spot is aged in a pair of casks: first-fill bourbon for vanilla and roundness, and Spanish sherry for fruity depth and sweet spice. Bottled at 40% , unpeated , it emphasizes silky texture and aromatic balance.
On the nose, we find the signature Speyside… (sorry) of Ireland: green apple , pear , citrus zest , acacia honey and vanilla , with a touch of fresh herbs and almond. The palate is creamy and malty , mixing cereals , light toffee , milk chocolate and spices (nutmeg, clove), supported by delicately toasted oak. Medium to long, clean and refreshing finish , with crisp apple , sweet ginger and a hint of hazelnut .
Enjoy neat or with a few drops of water to open up the aromas; perfect in a light highball (whiskey + sparkling water) or as an elegant Irish Coffee. A bright and accessible Single Pot Still Irish whiskey , which combines fruitiness, finesse and indulgence - ideal for discovering the style or for enriching a cellar dedicated to the great classics.
