Glen Scotia - 15 years - Campbeltown - 46%
Glen Scotia is an iconic distillery located in Campbeltown, on the Kintyre peninsula in Scotland, a region known for its unique and authentic whiskies. Founded in 1832 under the name Scotia by Mayor James Stewart and Provost John Galbraith, this historic distillery has endured many challenges, illustrating the rich heritage of Scottish whisky. In 1919, Glen Scotia was one of the six founding members of the consortium called "West Highland Malt Distilleries," aimed at pooling costs and preserving local production amid economic difficulties. After several ownership changes, closures, and restarts, the distillery was acquired in 2014 by the Loch Lomond group, which revitalized this legendary brand by increasing its production capacity, expanding its warehouses, and creating a visitor center dedicated to whisky enthusiasts.
The 15-year-old Glen Scotia whisky is distinguished by careful aging in first-fill Bourbon casks and multiple-used American oak barrels, offering a perfect balance between freshness and aromatic complexity. This rigorous maturation gives this single malt a silky texture, subtle notes of vanilla, citrus, and a light woody sweetness, highly appreciated by connoisseurs and lovers of fine whiskies.
Non-peated – This whisky thus reveals all the purity and finesse characteristic of Campbeltown spirits, without peat influence, for an elegant and balanced tasting experience.
