Loch Lomond - Single Malt - Master Blender - 21 years - 2022 Edition - 46%
The Loch Lomond Distillery, located in Alexandria, in the heart of the majestic Highlands of Scotland, enjoys a privileged location near the famous Loch Lomond. Founded in 1966, it was the result of a partnership between Duncan Thomas, an American owner of the now-defunct Littlemill distillery, and Barton Brands, a company based in Chicago. After a full takeover by Barton Brands in 1971, the distillery experienced a temporary closure in 1984 during the severe crisis that hit the whisky industry. It was successively acquired by Inver House in 1985 and then by Glen Catrine Bonded Warehouse Ltd in 1986, distinguishing itself as one of the most innovative and flexible distilleries in Scotland. In 2014, the distillery became part of the prestigious Loch Lomond Group. It is worth noting with pride that Loch Lomond whisky is the favorite spirit of Captain Haddock in the famous Tintin comic series, symbolizing Scottish quality and authenticity.
The 21-year-old Loch Lomond Single Malt is a refined blend of three distinct expressions from the distillery: a heavily peated Single Malt (50 ppm), a classic peated malt (25 ppm), and an unpeated malt. This subtle marriage offers remarkable complexity, enhanced by careful aging in American oak barrels, both first and second fill, bringing notes of vanilla, caramel, and an elegant woody richness.
