Patrón is an iconic brand of premium tequila authentically crafted in Mexico, reflecting the traditional expertise of Mexican master distillers. The company Patrón Spirits Company, based in Las Vegas, was founded in 1989 by John Paul DeJoria, a visionary entrepreneur who rose from hardship to success, also co-founder of John Paul Mitchell Systems, renowned for its high-end hair care products. In January 2018, the international group Bacardi acquired this prestigious house, thereby strengthening its expertise in the luxury spirits sector.
The Tequila Patrón is made exclusively from Weber blue agaves, known for their exceptional sugar content, ensuring superior quality and incomparable aromatic richness. The agave leaves are carefully cut to harvest only the heart, called "piña." These piñas are then finely chopped by hand before being slowly cooked in a traditional brick oven, ensuring even cooking and optimizing the extraction of natural sugars. The crushing is done by a two-ton volcanic rock Tahona wheel, combined with a grinding stone, an ancient process that imparts a unique texture to the fermented must. The resulting mixture undergoes a natural fermentation of three days, followed by a rigorous double distillation, then is sometimes aged in artisanal barrels, a source of complexity and elegance.
Patrón Añejo benefits from a meticulous aging of more than 12 months in French oak barrels, Hungarian oak barrels, as well as former American whiskey barrels, giving this tequila a refined aromatic palette, blending woody, spicy notes and subtle vanilla touches.
