The Shed Distillery is an iconic craft distillery located on the edge of a picturesque lake in Drumshanbo, in the lush west of Ireland. Founded by PJ and Denise Rigney, this family distillery brings together a passionate and expert team dedicated to creating exceptional spirits. They carefully explore local wild grains, the unique richness of Irish flora, as well as exotic plants carefully selected for their aromas. The Shed Distillery has five traditional custom copper stills: three dedicated to the production of artisanal Irish whiskey, two reserved for the creation of the famous Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, as well as two copper column stills specifically designed for the premium Irish vodka Sausage Tree Pure. These unique stills were crafted by master artisan Arnold Holstein in Germany, then carefully transported and installed in Drumshanbo, ensuring unparalleled quality and authenticity.
The production of Gunpowder Irish Gin is based on a slow and controlled distillation process, which enhances eight carefully selected botanicals, infused directly in the copper still: intense and resinous juniper berries, delicate meadowsweet, fragrant cardamom, fresh coriander seeds, earthy angelica root, elegant iris root, slightly aniseed caraway seeds, and star anise with sweet notes. Subsequently, four other aromatic plants are placed in the steam basket for a subtle infusion: the "Gunpowder" green tea, carefully cultivated in China, striped Chinese lemon, vibrant oriental grapefruit, and kaffir lime with exotic and refreshing nuances.
The artistic label of the bottle depicts a fantastic creature, a mythological embodiment born from the mysterious union of a swift hare and a majestic antelope native to America. According to local legend, this powerful symbol was born during a tumultuous storm, embodying strength, speed, and harmony with the wild nature.
