The Shed Distillery is ideally located on the edge of a picturesque lake in Drumshanbo, Ireland. Founded by PJ and Denise Rigney, this craft distillery brings together a passionate and expert team that creatively explores wild grains, authentic Irish flora, and rare exotic plants. The Shed has a unique facility with five copper stills: three dedicated to the prestigious Irish whiskey, two specifically designed for Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, and two copper column stills devoted to the production of Sausage Tree Pure Irish vodka. These stills were meticulously custom-made by Arnold Holstein in Germany to ensure exceptional quality and precision, then carefully transported to Drumshanbo.
The meticulous production process of Gunpowder Irish Gin begins with a slow copper pot distillation, where 8 carefully selected botanicals are infused: iconic juniper berries, delicate meadowsweet, fragrant cardamom, aromatic coriander seeds, robust angelica root, precious iris root, caraway seeds, and powerful star anise. Subsequently, 4 additional aromatic plants enhance the gin through a vapor basket addition: renowned "gunpowder" green tea, vibrant Chinese lemon, lively oriental grapefruit, and intensely fresh kaffir lime.
The legendary creature depicted on the label symbolizes the mythological union between a hare and an American antelope, a mystical fusion born, according to tradition, from a violent storm, inspiring the innovative and bold spirit of this exceptional gin.
