NAGAHAMA - Mizunara Peated Single Cask No.#192 - 2017/2021 - 51.1%
The Nagahama distillery, located in Shiga in Japan, embodies the excellence and craftsmanship of Japanese whisky. Founded as Nagahama Roman Beer Co. Ltd, it shifted to whisky production in 2016 and quickly established itself as the smallest distillery in Japan, renowned for its unique expertise and exceptional creations. Nagahama stands out not only for its handcrafted Single Malt whiskies but also for its ability to blend carefully selected whiskies from abroad, matured under Nagahama’s distinctive climate. Its still, with an initial capacity of 1,000 liters (and 500 liters of residual distillate), is one of the smallest and most iconic in all of Japan. Distillation is carried out by indirect steam heating, ensuring unmatched purity and finesse. The still, called "Aranbic" due to its distinctive oriental design, uses pure water drawn from Mount Ibuki, exceptionally rich in minerals. The barley, meanwhile, comes from England and can be peated or not, bringing perfect aromatic complexity. Today, the distillery is an integral part of the Shin group, a leader in spirit innovation in Japan.
The talented master blender Takashi Kiyoi, together with distiller Yusuke Yahisa, crafted this exclusive Single Malt by incorporating a proportion of peated barley and offering it exceptional maturation in a unique Mizunara oak cask (#192), famous for its distinctive and refined aromas, highly sought after by Japanese whisky enthusiasts.
