Compass Box Whisky is an innovative Scottish whisky production company, founded in 2000 by the visionary American John Glaser. With solid experience in the wine trade and at the famous distiller Johnnie Walker, John Glaser decided to launch his own unique whisky brand directly from his kitchen. Today, more than a decade later, Compass Box stands as a major player in whisky thanks to its carefully matured stocks in Scotland, its blending workshop, and its headquarters located in London. The company distinguishes itself by a rigorous selection of oak casks, notably from the prestigious Vosges forests in France and the rich forests of Missouri in the United States. Each cask is meticulously chosen for its aromatic qualities to create refined blends, which then undergo additional aging in casks for a period ranging from six months to three years, thus offering the whisky unparalleled complexity and aromatic depth.
In 2015, Compass Box made a sensation in the whisky world by adopting a policy of total transparency on their labels, detailing meticulously the distilleries, types of casks, precise ages, and proportions of the different whiskies composing their blends. This revolutionary approach, initiated by John Glaser, gave rise to an ambitious campaign for Scottish whisky transparency, inviting the industry to adopt open and authentic communication so that every enthusiast can know the full composition of the blends.
No Name No. 3 is an exclusive blend, created especially for La Maison du Whisky, the renowned organizer of Whisky Live Paris. Limited to only 10,794 bottles, this rare edition is composed of 74.7% re-toasted hogshead casks from the famous Laphroaig distillery, 11.3% refill ex-Bourbon casks from the Bowmore distillery, 7.5% re-toasted barrels from the Mortlach distillery, 6% refill Sherry Butt type casks from the Clynelish distillery, and finally 0.5% of a Highland Malt Blend aged in intensely heated French oak casks. This marriage gives birth to a whisky of exceptional aromatic richness, perfectly balanced between smoky, sweetness, and spices.
