Compass Box Whisky is an iconic artisanal Scottish whisky producer, founded in 2000 by the visionary American John Glaser. After a rewarding career in the wine trade and then at the prestigious distiller Johnnie Walker, John Glaser decided to start his own whisky company in his kitchen. Today, more than twenty years later, Compass Box has built a reputation for excellence with exceptional stocks of carefully matured whiskies in Scotland, a blending room dedicated to precise assemblages, and a headquarters based in London, the heart of the global whisky capital.
The uniqueness of Compass Box lies in its innovative and demanding approach: the company sources exclusively cooperage oak from the famous Vosges forest in France as well as sustainable forests in Missouri, USA. Each cask is meticulously selected for its unique characteristics to ensure superior quality blends. After blending, the whisky rests between six months and three years in cask, an essential process that deeply develops complex flavors and a refined character, making their products truly distinctive.
In 2015, Compass Box caused a sensation and controversy in the whisky world by transparently and exhaustively revealing details usually kept secret on their labels: original distilleries, types of casks used, precise ages, and exact proportions of the whiskies composing the final blend. This bold initiative gave rise to a true campaign of transparency in Scottish whisky, led by John Glaser himself, aiming to promote a new era of honest and enlightened communication between producers and consumers, and to highlight the art of blending.
This limited edition of only 2,430 bottles was specially bottled to celebrate the 65th anniversary of La Maison du Whisky. It features a harmonious blend combining a Single Malt from the Highlands (43.3%), an iconic Single Malt from the Speyside (17.4%), as well as two distinctive Single Malts from the island of Islay (39.3%), all aged between 17 and 26 years, offering richness and complexity to the palate.
