AMRUT - Peated Port Pipe - French Connections Single Cask - Edition 2021 - 60%
The Amrut Distillery is located in Kambipura, India, a country rich with an emerging tradition in the world of whisky. Founded in 1947 by Shri J.N. Radhakrishna, shortly before Indian independence, this prestigious house initially supplied alcohol to the Indian army before becoming a major player in artisanal whisky. Now based in Bangalore, Amrut bottles its spirits in five different states, offering remarkable diversity. The Single Malt range was launched in 2004, and in 2010, Amrut Fusion was named "Third Best Whisky in the World" in Jim Murray's renowned Whisky Bible. Amrut whiskies are made from barley grown in the majestic Himalayan mountains, offering a unique organoleptic quality that captivates connoisseurs. Amrut's master blender considers one year of aging in India's hot and humid warehouses equivalent to about three years in Scotland, thanks to a climate that accelerates maturation. The distillery experiences an annual loss of about 12% of the spirit through evaporation, called the "Angel's Share," significantly higher than the 2% observed in Scotland. Single Malt represents a limited share of production; the distillery also produces amber rum, brandy, vodka, gin, and blended whisky with globally recognized qualities.
This exceptional limited edition of 516 bottles belongs to the prestigious French Connections range from La Maison du Clos des Spiritueux. This whisky comes from an exclusive Single Cask (#2713) filled in July 2014. After careful aging in a peated Port Pipe cask, this masterpiece was bottled in August 2020, delivering a rich and complex expression where smoky notes perfectly harmonize with the fruity sweetness of this noble wood.
A characterful peated whisky, intensely aromatic and remarkably refined.
