WATERFORD - SFO Lacken - Edition 1.1 - 50%
The Waterford Distillery is ideally located in the charming town of Waterford, Ireland, the birthplace of an ancient whisky tradition. This innovative project was initiated by Mark Reynier, the visionary man who orchestrated the revival of the famous Islay Single Malt whisky, Bruichladdich, drawing inspiration from the techniques of the world's greatest winemakers. Originally established by Diageo in 2004, the distillery was completely converted in 2015 to become a major player in terroir whisky. Production focuses particularly on traceability and the origin of the barley, thus enhancing its unique terroir, place of origin, and sustainable farming methods. Mark Reynier works closely with an exclusive network of 86 Irish farms, spread across 19 distinct soils, including organic and biodynamic barley crops. Thanks to advanced digital logistics, each harvest is harvested, stored, malted, and distilled separately, ensuring exceptional quality and authenticity.
Lacken 1.1 comes from the renowned farm of Francis Kehoe and is part of an exceptional and exclusive bottling for France. The barley was meticulously harvested on August 14, 2015, then distilled between February 10 and 18, 2017. The maturation lasted precisely 3 years, 9 months, and 20 days, harmonizing rich and complex aromas. The barrel blending took place on December 18, 2020, before bottling in March 2021. This cuvée is based on a unique blend combining 34% new American oak barrels, 21% French oak barrels, 28% virgin American oak barrels, and 17% barrels that previously contained natural sweet wine, bringing unmatched aromatic richness and depth. Only a limited production of 12,000 bottles was made, highlighting its exclusivity.
