LONGROW - 10 years - Old Edition - 46%
The Springbank Distillery is one of the last two historic distilleries still operating in the prestigious Campbeltown region, located on the Kintyre peninsula, southwest of Scotland. Renowned for its unique artisanal expertise, it produces Single Malt whisky under three iconic labels, each presenting a distinct style: Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn. Founded in 1828 by the visionaries Archibald and Hugh Mitchell, Springbank Distillery became the 14th officially licensed distillery in Campbeltown. By 1934, only Springbank and Glen Scotia remained in this region once famous for its many distilleries. Remaining in the hands of the direct descendants of its founders, it is among the few Scottish distilleries to master the entire production process on-site, from traditional barley malting to final bottling. This rigorous control of each step guarantees the excellence of its whiskies and allows the expression of three unique styles, strongly influenced by the choice of aging casks and the local oceanic climate. Furthermore, the parent company JA Mitchell & Sons relaunched the Glengyle distillery in 2004, producing Single Malts under the Kilkerran brand. Additionally, the famous independent bottler Cadenhead's also belongs to the same group.
The intensely peated versions, favored by lovers of rich and smoky flavors, are marketed under the Longrow brand. The first Longrow bottles, distilled in 1973, were created with the ambitious goal of demonstrating that Single Malts with a powerful character similar to those of Islay could be produced on the Scottish mainland.
This iconic Longrow 10-year-old edition is now part of the old and rare expressions as it is no longer produced today, thus enhancing its appeal to collectors and enthusiasts of exceptional whiskies.
