The Starward Distillery, a gem of urban whisky, is ideally located in the heart of Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 2008 by Davide Vitale, a passionate member of a large Italian family, it quickly established itself as a key player in modern Australian whisky. The first bottling under the Starward brand was released in 2013. Committed to quality and authenticity, the distillery uses exclusively 100% local ingredients and ages its whiskies in Australian red wine barrels, giving them a unique and authentic aromatic richness.
Apera benefits from aging in casks that previously contained an Australian fortified wine called "Apera," similar to Spanish sherry, with a capacity of 225 liters. This particular aging imparts complex, fruity, and spicy notes to the whisky, typical of this winemaking tradition. This Single Malt, distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2020, comes from a single cask (Single Cask #1866), with only 240 bottles produced exclusively for La Maison du Whisky, thus guaranteeing unparalleled rarity and finesse.
