WATERFORD - Micro Cuvée - Good Vibrations - 50%
The Waterford Distillery is located in the heart of the historic city of Waterford, Ireland. This innovative project was initiated by Mark Reynier, the visionary expert behind the revival of Islay Single Malt whisky at Bruichladdich, drawing inspiration from the greatest international winemakers. Originally built by Diageo in 2004, the distillery was completely renovated and redesigned in 2015 to produce exceptional whiskies focused on the concept of terroir and traceability. The unique production of terroir whiskies highlights the precise origin of each barley grain, its environment, and its cultivation method. Mark Reynier actively collaborates with 86 Irish farms growing barley on 19 distinct soil types, including organic and biodynamic farms. Thanks to an advanced digital logistics system, each harvest is carefully harvested, stored, malted, and distilled independently, ensuring a pure and authentic expression of each terroir.
Good Vibrations is the result of an exclusive collaboration between La Maison du Whisky and Ned Gahan, Waterford's master distiller. The barley blend used includes 50% Hunter, 25% Olympus, and 25% Prospect, grown on 3 emblematic farms: Jackson Organic (Lacka), Tom Bryan (Donoughmore), and Francis Kehoe (Lacken). This whisky underwent meticulous maturation for 3 years, 11 months, and 6 days. It matured exclusively in first-fill American oak barrels from the prestigious Jim Beam and Heaven Hill distilleries, which imparts richness and aromatic complexity to the whisky. The barrels were blended on May 31, 2023, and bottled in August 2023. Production is limited to only 1,200 bottles, reflecting sought-after rarity.
