TAYLOR'S - Porto - Vintage 2009
The Taylor’s Port House is located in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the south bank of the majestic Douro River, opposite the historic city of Porto, in the heart of Portugal. Founded in 1692 by Job Bearsley, Taylor’s is among the oldest and most prestigious founding Port wine houses. For over two centuries, management has been passionately maintained by the Yeatman family, true guardians of this exceptional wine heritage. Taylor’s wines mainly come from grapes grown in exceptional vineyards located within the Douro Valley, a region benefiting from a unique terroir combining an ideal climate and soils conducive to producing Port wines of unparalleled quality. In addition to its Port wines, Taylor’s has also distinguished itself in the production of still wines in the Douro region and owns renowned estates in other emblematic regions of Portugal, notably Alentejo, ensuring diversity and excellence.
The Vintage Port from Taylor’s is produced exclusively in years deemed exceptional, synonymous with optimal terroir and climatic conditions. It represents a prestigious blend of the most remarkable crus from Taylor’s three flagship estates: Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita, and more recently, Quinta do Junco. The 2009 vintage is particularly notable for its low yields, guaranteeing unique aromatic concentration and intensity. The maturation period began under an initially cool climate extended until July, followed from August by a period of intense heatwave. The harvest, started in September, benefited from two consecutive months almost without rain, ideal conditions to obtain extremely concentrated musts, rich in deep color, elegant tannins, and natural sugars, characteristics of prestigious wines. This 2009 Vintage is a true oenological gem, recognized for its complexity, longevity, and exceptional aging potential, making this Port an essential reference for enthusiasts and collectors.
