KARUKERA - Old Rum Cream - 18%
Karukera is an iconic rum distillery located in Sainte-Marie, in Guadeloupe, at the heart of the prestigious Marquisat de Sainte-Marie estate. Since 2005, when François Longueteau took over the family farm and the Espérance distillery nestled in the center of the estate, the goal has been clear: to preserve and enhance a family heritage spanning several generations. This distillery is renowned for its exceptional white and amber rums, marketed under two flagship brands that have built the family's reputation: Mon Repos and Longueteau rums. Grégoire Hayot, an engineer by training and then financial director at Damoiseau, played a key role in modernizing production. In 2005, he contributed to the construction of an innovative aging cellar, strengthening the quality and consistency of Guadeloupe's agricultural aged rums. Driven by the desire to develop this production, he chose to partner with François Longueteau, combining their expertise under the company Marquisat de Sainte-Marie. Thus, on November 2, 2006, the first aging batch was made from Longueteau distillate, with 87 barrels of 310 liters supplied by the specialist Seguin Moreau. In 2007, the Karukera cellar was established, including spaces dedicated to aging, refining white rum, bottling, storage, as well as a quality control laboratory and a tourist reception area with a shop to introduce visitors to this unique world.
The Karukera old rum cream is a subtle refined blend of aged rums, creamy texture, and carefully selected spices.
