The Loch Lomond Distillery is located in Alexandria, in the heart of the picturesque landscape surrounding Loch Lomond in the famous Highlands region of Scotland. Founded in 1966 through an innovative partnership between Duncan Thomas, an American owner of Littlemill (now defunct), and Barton Brands, a Chicago-based company, it has a rich and unique history. Barton Brands took full control in 1971, but the distillery closed in 1984, a victim of the major crisis that hit the whisky industry at that time. However, Loch Lomond quickly revived thanks to its acquisition by Inver House in 1985, before being transferred to Glen Catrine Bonded Warehouse Ltd in 1986. Under this new management, the distillery became the most flexible and one of the most innovative in Scotland, recognized for its cutting-edge production techniques. In 2014, Loch Lomond joined the prestigious Loch Lomond Group, consolidating its international reputation. Loch Lomond whisky is also famous for being the iconic drink of Captain Haddock in the cult Tintin comics, which enhances its unique cultural aura.
This exceptional single malt, aged for 14 years, benefits from meticulous maturation in first-fill Bourbon casks as well as charred casks, ensuring remarkable aromatic complexity and a perfect balance between sweetness and character.
