NIKKA - Taketsuru Pure Malt - 43% (Old Edition)
Nikka Whisky Distilling Company is an iconic distillery located in Japan, founded by Masataka Taketsuru, recognized as the true pioneer and founding father of quality Japanese whisky. The son of a sake master brewer, Masataka Taketsuru studied chemistry at university before perfecting his apprenticeship at several renowned distilleries in Scotland. In 1920, he returned to Japan with his Scottish wife, Rita, bringing with him unique expertise that would revolutionize the whisky industry in Japan. After contributing to the creation of the first Japanese whisky at the company now known as Suntory (formerly Kotobukiya Limited), he founded his own distillery, Yoichi, as well as the parent company, Nikka. In addition to its famous whiskies, Nikka also produces Shochu, a traditional Japanese spirit distilled from various ingredients such as rice, barley, and sweet potato, as well as cider brandy and apple wine. In 2001, Nikka joined the Asahi Breweries group, one of the world's leading alcoholic beverage companies.
The blended malt Taketsuru is named after its creator, a tribute to Masataka Taketsuru, a true legend of Japanese whisky. This exceptional cuvée, recognizable by its black label, was replaced in 2020 by a new version featuring a white label, released on the 100th anniversary of his marriage to Rita, thus celebrating the heritage and unique legacy of this iconic brand. This whisky offers a refined tasting experience, combining finesse and complexity, ideal for enthusiasts and collectors seeking authenticity and aromatic richness.
