Cachaça - Abelha Gold Organic
Abelha is a prestigious brand of artisan cachaça produced in Rio de Contas, in the emblematic region of Bahia, at the heart of Brazil. Founded in 2009, this brand is the result of a passionate collaboration between Marcos Vaccaro, a renowned master distiller and pioneer of the first certified organic cachaça in Brazil, and the British group Responsible Trading Company. Together, they share a common vision based on strong ethical values: training and certifying local farmers in organic sugarcane production, preserving ancestral and natural agricultural know-how, while crafting an exceptional organic cachaça, recognized for its purity and authenticity. The name Abelha, which means "bee" in Portuguese, symbolizes both the hundreds of Brazilian bees that naturally participate in the ecological cycle by pollinating the fresh sugarcane juice during its extraction, as well as the dedicated team managing this sustainable, self-sufficient, and community farm.
The sugarcane is cultivated on sandy soils rich from the Brazilian highlands, benefiting from a unique microclimate characterized by a strong temperature difference between day and night. These conditions, combined with fertile soil and pure, crystalline spring water, contribute to the growth of superior quality sugarcane, ideal for exceptional organic production. The harvest is done manually, sequentially and meticulously, allowing the selection of sugarcane at optimal maturity, ensuring ideal sugar content. Immediately after cutting, the cane is pressed within 24 hours to ensure perfect fermentation. The fermented juice, called "cachaça vinho," is then distilled in traditional 800-liter copper stills, respecting artisanal know-how to preserve the delicate aromas and purity of the final product.
Abelha Gold undergoes a meticulous aging process of 3 years in Garapeira (Brazilian ash) barrels with a capacity of 250 liters, giving it a unique aromatic complexity, perfect balance, and remarkable smoothness, reflecting the excellence of this organic cachaça, recognized on international markets for its unparalleled quality.
