Germana - Cachaça Classica - 40%
Germana is a brand of artisan cachaça passionately produced by the Caetano family in Vista Alegre, in the heart of Brazil. In Portuguese, the name Germana evokes purity and authenticity, meaning "something unmixed, pure and authentic." This choice of name pays tribute to the life of the famous nun, Sister Irma Germana, known for her healing talents. She provided aid and comfort to pilgrims and visitors through her unique infusions made from cachaça and herbs carefully gathered on the mountainside, symbolizing ancestral know-how.
Germana is made from sugarcane harvested by hand on the Caetano family farm, cultivated in a completely natural way, without the use of chemicals or pesticides. The cane is pressed the same day it is harvested and then fermented in open vats for about 24 hours, with the duration varying according to the local ambient temperature. To optimize this natural fermentation, Germana incorporates a measure of roasted corn, grown and ground locally, enhancing the resources of the terroir. Then, the must is distilled in copper stills heated by direct fire, using the pressed and dried sugarcane as fuel, thus ensuring a final product that is authentic, refined, and respectful of Brazilian traditions.
