Alfred Giraud - Intrigue - Limited Edition - Bottled 2022 - 51.7%
Alfred Giraud Whiskey is a company located in the Cognac region, and whose distillery is in Saint-Palais-de-Négrignac. The Giraud family were originally coopers and in 1910, Louis Giraud joined a house in Cognac to produce eaux-de-vie with his son Alfred. During the First World War, Alfred was captured by the Germans and forced to make barrels for a Berlin brewery. When he was released in 1918, he took over from his father until his retirement and from 1954, his son André continued to support the family business. A generation later, Philippe Giraud left the Cognac house and joined the William Grant & Sons group in 1995, which marked the turning point towards whisky. In 2009, he decided to combine his knowledge of whiskey with family expertise in blending and aging to create a high-end French whisky.
The whiskey is made from malted barley, brewed then distilled in Saint-Palais-de-Négrignac. Intrigue is a blend of two Single Malts , aged in 5 different types of barrels : Cognac, Sauvignon Blanc, French and American Oak and a single barrel kept secret.
