LADYBURN - 42 years old - Vintage 1973 - Bottled in 2015 - 40% ABV
The Ladyburn distillery is located in Girvan, in the heart of the prestigious Lowlands of Scotland. Founded in 1966 by the renowned group William Grant and Sons Ltd, Ladyburn was created as an extension of the Girvan distillery to enrich the range of exceptional single malt whiskies. Compared to its famous peers such as Balvenie or Glenfiddich, Ladyburn Single Malt whisky remains a rare gem highly prized by connoisseurs and collectors. Ladyburn's stills were in operation for less than a decade, ceasing production in 1975 before being permanently dismantled in 1976. This ephemeral nature gives its bottles a unique value in the premium spirits market. Ladyburn whisky is sometimes marketed under the name Ayrshire, coming from a pure cooling water source, the Penwapple reservoir, which brings finesse and balance to the distillate.
