Tatanka is a renowned artisanal company based in Martinique, specializing in hand-painted artwork on various surfaces. Since 1996, a talented Martinican artist has been illustrating directly on the glass bottles in an authentic naïve art style. These unique creations capture authentic scenes of life within the distillery, paying tribute to the passionate work of the men and women involved in crafting the famous Neisson rums. For each special edition, the set offers three original and distinct illustrations, ensuring a collection that is both artistic and precious.
The Neisson Distillery, a jewel of Martinican heritage, is located in Le Carbet, Martinique. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers, its success is owed to Jean Neisson, a visionary chemical engineer who perfected artisanal distillation techniques. Today, his descendants, Claudine and then her son Grégory, continue this family passion with a strong commitment to quality and sustainability. Since 2013, the distillery has begun transitioning to certified organic farming, culminating in 2016 with the launch of the first organic AOC Martinique rum on the market. Gradually, all 40 hectares of cultivated land have been carefully converted. Thanks to years of rigorous research, Neisson selects and uses its own strains of indigenous yeasts, naturally extracted from the sugarcane plantation, thus guaranteeing the authenticity and unique aromatic intensity of its rums. Furthermore, a thoughtful choice of crop varieties adapted to each plot, optimized irrigation management to preserve water resources, and ecological treatment of effluents demonstrate its deep commitment to sustainable production respectful of the Martinican ecosystem. This exemplary approach now ensures the production of exceptional agricultural rums, recognized worldwide for their finesse and balance.
