PLANTATION - Hampden HJF 2002 - Single Cask - Bottled in 2021 - 70.3% ABV
The exceptional story of Plantation begins in 1989 when Alexandre Gabriel discovers the prestigious Maison Ferrand located in the heart of Cognac. Driven by a passion for exceptional spirits, he surrounds himself with a dedicated team and travels the world to create a distribution network sharing the same values of authenticity and excellence as Maison Ferrand. In the 1990s, his journey leads him to the Caribbean islands, with the ambition to enhance used Cognac barrels at renowned rum distilleries. This is how the Plantation brand was born, a refined range of terroir rums, reflecting the richness and diversity of the various Caribbean terroirs. Today, Maison Ferrand is recognized for its unique expertise and focuses on three major families of exceptional spirits: Ferrand Cognac from Grande Champagne, French Gin Citadelle, and Plantation Terroir Rum. Furthermore, Plantation owns the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados and is a major shareholder of National Rum of Jamaica, which includes the Clarendon and Long Pond distilleries.
This rare and prestigious Plantation was distilled in 2002 at the famous Hampden distillery in Jamaica, where it underwent an exceptional aging of 17 years in carefully selected Bourbon barrels. It then continued its maturation for an additional year in a special cask dating from 1840, belonging to Maison Ferrand, thus bringing unparalleled complexity and aromatic depth. This unique vintage, referenced under the code HJF, displays remarkable richness with 669 g/hLPA, a guarantee of exceptional aromatic intensity and power.
