GLENFARCLAS - The Family Cask Sherry Hogshead - Vintage 2011 - 59.80%
The Glenfarclas distillery, located in Ballindalloch, in the heart of the prestigious Speyside region in Scotland, is an essential reference in the world of single malt whiskies. Founded well before 1791 and officially licensed in 1836 under the direction of Robert Hay, this iconic distillery embodies a deep family tradition. Purchased on June 8, 1865 by John Grant, it remains a family-owned property today, managed by his direct descendants, ensuring exceptional quality and expertise passed down from generation to generation. In 2007, Glenfarclas launched The Family Casks, an exclusive collection of 43 Single Cask bottlings, offered at a rate of one unique cask per year, covering vintages from 1952 to 1994, then extended up to 2001. It should be noted that the distillery no longer holds stocks of the 1952 and 1953 casks, highlighting the rare and precious nature of these editions.
This limited edition of only 304 bottles was specially produced to celebrate the 65th anniversary of La Maison du Whisky, a major reference in the distribution of fine spirits. Distilled on April 21, 2011, this exceptional whisky benefited from meticulous aging of 10 years in a Single Cask (#1173) of Sherry hogshead, giving this vintage a unique aromatic richness. Bottling took place on July 21, 2021, ensuring a handcrafted and careful bottling.
