GLENTAUCHERS - 41 years old - 1979 - Gordon & MacPhail - 56.60%
Gordon & MacPhail is a major player and recognized as one of the best independent bottlers of Scottish whisky. Owner of the prestigious Benromach distillery, this iconic house is renowned for its exclusive selection and very diverse range of bottlings from the most famous distilleries in Scotland. Founded in 1895 in Elgin, in the historic region of Moray in northeast Scotland, the company began as a grocer and wine and spirits merchant. In 1915, John Urquhart, a passionate former apprentice, took over the company, which remains today a family business committed to exceptional traditional know-how.
The Glentauchers distillery, a jewel of Speyside, is located in the heart of this region known for its fruity and elegant whiskies. Founded in 1897, it officially began production in 1898 following a collaboration between James Buchanan Co. Ltd. and the shareholders of Glentauchers Distillery Co. Although mothballed by United Distillers in 1985 and then sold to Allied Distillers in 1989, Glentauchers remains an emblematic distillery whose malts are rarely bottled as single malt. Generally, its whiskies contribute to prestigious blends. It was only in 2000 that an official bottling was released, preceded in the 1990s by a semi-official edition marketed by Gordon & MacPhail.
Non-Peated - Pure and authentic expression, reflecting all the finesse of Speyside.
