AMRUT - Ex Bourbon French Connections Single Cask - 2021 Edition - 60%
The Amrut Distillery, located in Kambipura, India, is an iconic reference in the world of Indian craft whiskies. Founded in 1947 by Shri J.N. Radhakrishna, shortly before India's independence, this house initially supplied alcohol to the Indian army. Now based in Bangalore, Amrut bottles its spirits in five other states, combining tradition and innovation. The Single Malt range, launched in 2004, gained international recognition as early as 2010 with its famous Amrut Fusion, crowned "Third Best Whisky in the World" by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible. Distilled from barley grown in the unique microclimates of the Himalayas, Amrut whiskies benefit from accelerated aging under a hot and humid climate, where one year roughly equals three years of Scottish maturation. The distillery faces an annual evaporation of about 12% (the famous Angel's Share), significantly higher than the 2% observed in Scotland. Although the Single Malt is the house's star, Amrut also produces a diverse range including amber rum, brandy, vodka, gin, and blends, thus offering a complete palette of premium spirits.
This exclusive limited edition of 108 bottles is part of the prestigious French Connections range from La Maison du Whisky, highlighting exceptional Single Casks. This unique whisky comes from cask number 662, filled in October 2012. After extended aging in ex-Bourbon casks, this treasure was bottled in August 2020 at a remarkable strength of 60%, revealing intense aromatic complexity and rare depth thanks to its long cask stay.
