The Shinshu Distillery is an integral part of the Hombo Shuzo group (also known as Hombo Brewing Co.), renowned for its unique expertise in whisky production. The whisky from this distillery is marketed under the prestigious Mars Whisky brand. Founded in 1872 by Honbu Matsusa, Hombo Shuzo is located at 800 meters altitude in the picturesque village of Miyata, on the Japanese island of Kyushu. In 1949, the company obtained a license to produce whisky at the Kagoshima distillery before centralizing its manufacturing activities at the Shinshu distillery. Despite a temporary pause in 1992 due to low demand, production gradually resumed in 2012 to regain momentum. The jewel of this distillery remains the Komagatake, a Single Malt named in honor of the most majestic surrounding mountain. Furthermore, the Mars Maltage Cosmo launched in July 2015 celebrates the distillery's exceptional geographical position and evokes the beauty of the night sky visible from Mount Komagatake.

This exclusive 2020 edition of Mars Komagatake was carefully distilled at the Shinshu distillery before benefiting from a unique aging process in the maturation cellars of Yakushima, an island famous for its ideal climate that imparts exceptional aromas and incomparable depth to the whisky.
