Originally, the Domaine Savanna, located in Saint-Paul, in the heart of the island of La Réunion and at the foot of the majestic mountains, was a sugar factory founded at the beginning of the 19th century. The Savanna distillery, however, was established later, between 1948 and 1950, thanks to the visionary Émile Hugot. A former prestigious student of the École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures in Paris, Émile Hugot became an influential and international figure in the sugar industry. From 1982, a strategic partnership allowed the Savanna distillery to elevate the quality of its rums, securing an exceptional position in the premium rum market. This excellence was officially recognized as it became the first European distillery certified ISO 9002, a guarantee of rigor and superior quality.
